Mountain climber finds jewels - 10th January 2022
A climber has got expensive jewels from the French government. He found the jewels in the mountains in 2013. The jewels were in a box on Mont Blanc, in France.
The box fell from a plane. It belonged to a passenger. There was a plane accident on Mont Blanc in 1950. Then, there was another accident in 1966. Both planes flew from India. Lots of people died.
People think the jewels are from the 1966 plane. This plane came from Mumbai, in India, to New York.
The climber found the box in 2013. He gave the box to French police. For years, the police looked for information about the box. But they never found the owner's family in India.
Now, the climber can keep half of the jewels. They have a value of about €150,000.
