Mehran Karimi Nasseri lived in an airport for 18 years.

He died at Charles de Gaulle airport in France this year.

Hollywood told Nasseri’s story in the film 'The Terminal'.

Nasseri started living at the airport in 1988.

He flew from Paris to London.

But someone stole his passport.

The police sent Nasseri back to France.

He couldn't reenter France without an ID.

He had to stay in the airport terminal.

Nasseri received help from airport staff.

People knew about his story.

They helped him.

People gave him food, books and a radio.

He lived on a plastic bench in Terminal 2F.

He named himself 'King Alfred'.

His story became famous.

Writers and filmmakers liked his story.

In 2004, Steven Spielberg made a film about him.

The film starred Tom Hanks.

Nasseri got $275,000 for his story.

But, in the end, they didn't use the story in the film.

In 1999, Nasseri got refugee status.

He could live in France.

But he didn't leave the airport.

He was too afraid.

In 2006, Nasseri got ill.

He had to go to the hospital.

After that, he lived in a special home.

But, in September 2022, he returned to the terminal.

At the airport, he had a heart attack and died.
