Teacher brings school to students - 26th June 2020

Bolivian teacher, Wilfredo Negrete, crosses rugged terrain by bike to reach provincial students stuck without education.

Amid sweeping school closures caused by the worldwide pandemic, rural students are forgetting their hard-earned knowledge due to the digital divide.

Rather than neglect his students, his dedication sees him carve a trail between houses 3 times a week with a whiteboard close in tow.

Having 2 children himself, Negrete provides home schooling complete with socially-distanced desks and alcohol gel to prevent the spread of infection.

Attendance is high as parents feel compelled to wend their way over long distances to ensure their youngsters receive an education.
