Top teacher shares $1 million prize - 14th December 2020

The Global Teacher Prize is a competition for teachers. The winner gets $1 million. This year, an Indian teacher won. Then, he gave half of the $1 million away.

The Global Teacher Prize makes a list of very good teachers. Teachers on the list do amazing things. This year, there were 12,000 teachers on the list.

Ranjitsinh Disale is the winner this year. He teaches in an Indian village. He helps poor girls. He also teaches students around the world online. He helps young people in areas with war too.

Mr Disale wanted to share the $1 million with other teachers. He gave half to the top 10 teachers on the list. It was the first time this happened.

Sunny Varkey is a businessman. He started the Global Teacher Prize. He thinks sharing the money is a good thing.
