Call a llama - B1+

Llama virtual visits - 15th July 2020

A Bolivian start-up has come up with a new way to help tourism in Bolivia during lockdown.

'Callallama.com' allows you to include a real life llama in your video call or virtual meeting.

The llama is the national animal of Bolivia and tourists love to come and see them. While tourism has stopped during lockdown, virtual visits can continue via mobile phones.

The app helps rural communities dependent on tourism.

Derren Patterson set up 'Call a Llama.'

Patterson: "It’s a good way for us to have some fun, bring a bit of joy to people that are stuck at home, and allow people to share in that wonder of travel, that we all need and love, but unfortunately at the moment we cannot do."

On each virtual visit, you're joined by a guide who speaks English. You’ll get to meet the llamas and see the fantastic places they live. So, time to travel again, if just from your sofa.
