Llama virtual visits - 15th July 2020
A Bolivian start-up is connecting travel-starved tourists to llamas in a bid to help tourism in Bolivia.
'Callallama.com' allows you to meet a real life llama, the national animal of Bolivia, through a video call or virtual meeting.
Tourists come from all over the world to feed Bolivian llamas, but under lockdown, tourism has ground to a halt.
With Call a Llama, you can now virtually visit the llamas on your mobile phone, giving visibility and income to rural communities dependent on tourism.
Derren Patterson founded the company.
Patterson: "It’s a good way for us to have some fun, bring a bit of joy to people that are stuck at home, and allow people to share in that wonder of travel, that we all need and love, but unfortunately at the moment we cannot do."
On each virtual visit, you’ll be introduced to the llamas and shown the amazing places they live by an English-speaking guide. Travel with a twist, all from your sofa.
