Tennis star hopes to inspire - 8th February 2021

Tennis player Francesca Jones has won a place at this year's Australian Open. The Australian Open is one of the world's largest tennis competitions.

But Jones is a special tennis player. She was born with an unusual health condition. She has 3 fingers and a thumb on both of her hands. Her right foot only has 3 toes. As a child, it was difficult for her to use a tennis racquet.

During her childhood, Jones had to have a lot of operations. A doctor told her she wasn't able to be a professional tennis player. But when she was 9, Jones got into a famous tennis school in Barcelona. Now, she plays tennis professionally.

Jones thinks she can give people hope. She plans to be an example for other people with health conditions. But Jones is also a typical tennis player. She wants to win her tennis matches.

The Australian Open begins on 8th February in Melbourne.
