Do you watch more TV now than before Covid-19? UK research into TV habits says that you do. It found that TV habits have changed. In 2020, adults watched TV and online videos for 5 hours 40 minutes a day. That’s nearly one hour more than in 2019.
People aged 45 and over watched traditional TV for just over three hours a day. But more people now watch TV via streaming services like Netflix. Nearly 80 percent of homes have connected their TVs to the internet.
Services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video grew the fastest in 2020. Their use doubled between 2019 and 2020. Daily use increased to just over an hour per person.
People spend around 40 minutes each day on YouTube. This is the most popular service where users create the content.
Covid-19 has changed what people do in their free time. The research says that people are now spending one third of their time on screens. But people aren’t just watching more news and entertainment. Covid-19 has also changed how they watch it.
