Brazil vaccine rollout finally begins

In Brazil, people are getting the Covid vaccine. The vaccine stops Covid-19. These planes are bringing the vaccine to Amazonas.

Amazonas is a big area in Brazil. Lots of traditional groups live in Amazonas. Lots of people from these groups are dying from Covid-19. And it's difficult to get healthcare. But the government is trying to help.

Vanda Ortega is a nurse in a traditional community. She got the first vaccine in Amazonas.

Covid-19 is a big problem in Brazil. Over 217,000 people are dead. The local government wants to give everyone the vaccine. But the president is making problems.

President Bolsonaro doesn't think the vaccine is important. And he doesn't like lockdowns. He thinks lockdowns are bad for Brazil. But local governments disagree. They are giving people the vaccine anyway.

Ortega disagrees with the president too. She says traditional communities need help.
