Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour recently concluded its phase in Europe with its 131st concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, marking a significant achievement. The tour has broken multiple records, with Swift becoming the first artist to perform eight shows in one year at this well-known venue. Over 700,000 fans attended her concerts in London, highlighting her immense popularity.

Financially, the tour has been a massive success, earning Swift around $1 billion so far, with forecasts indicating that this figure could surpass $2 billion by the time the tour concludes in Vancouver, Canada, in December 2024. The economic impact of the tour has also been felt by the cities where she performed. In London alone, the tour poured approximately £300 million into the local economy. Across the entire UK, experts estimate that the total economic boost could be close to £997 million.

The enthusiasm of Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, has been extraordinary. In Edinburgh, their high energy dancing during her concert even caused small earth movements, as in an earthquake, according to seismologists. Even so, fans will have to rock harder to beat the record set by Swifties in Seattle in 2023.

However, the tour wasn’t entirely trouble free since Swift was forced to cancel three shows in Austria, where there was evidence of a potential terrorist threat. After the completion of the Wembley concerts, Swift took to her instagram account to explain how she felt about the cancellation of those events. While she explained she had “a new sense of fear” and a “tremendous amount of guilt” she was “grateful we are grieving the concerts and not our lives”.

After finishing the European stage, the Eras Tour will take a short break before continuing in the US on 18th October, 2024. In the meantime, rumours suggest that Swift will be chilling with her cats, while recording a few new hits.
