Pharaohs go to new museum - 16th April 2021
This is a parade in Cairo, Egypt. The parade was for a new museum: the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation. People walked through the streets. And they took pharaohs to the new museum.
Pharaohs are dead kings and queens from Egypt. They lived thousands of years ago. The pharaohs are inside these cars.
One pharaoh was in each car. The pharaoh’s name was on the car. The cars had special wheels. They kept the pharaohs safe.
The pharaohs are now at the new museum. First, scientists will check the pharaohs. They will put each pharaoh in a glass box. They will control the temperature in the box. After 15 days, people can see the pharaohs in the museum. People are excited about the new museum. They are visiting it now.
Sara: "The yesterday we watched the parade on the television, and so we came today to the museum and it's really, really beautiful, really exceptional. We are so happy to be able to see all of the Egyptian products and statues here now."
Asmaa Said works for the museum.
Asmaa: "Why it is called the civilisation museum is because the most important thing here is the concept of civilisation, not a specific time or era. Every showcase tells a story or a different concept of civilisation. We connect all civilisations here."
